While in Dubai, I had the opportunity to try something familiar to a lot of the locals: have a dress custom-made! Cue the excited and intense Pinterest-surfing for ideas.
While trying to figure out what to get, I realized that I actually would prefer to have a crop top & skirt combination created that I could wear to special events (a summer wedding or other cocktail-dress-riddled festivities). It's a different look than just an LBD, and it's hard to find dressier versions that fit perfectly and don't break the bank. The experience was really fun for me - I got to design the pieces, shop for the fabric, and then go to the dressmaker to explain the concept and get measured. The cutout back was a last-minute addition I thought of, and it's now one of my favorite parts of the look. The crop & skirt turned out even better than I had hoped, and both fit me like a glove. I'm actually obsessssssed and can't believe how easy the whole process was. Can I do this all the time?!
Sitting here waiting impatiently for a special occasion so I can wear this...
(also YES my hands are henna'd! Check back for more detailed shots later this week)
