Chic This Week 057

What's CHIC this week (vol. 057)

My new floral arrangement hack. Thanks to this tip I got from Emily Schuman, I now know how florists get their roses looking so full and lush! Check out how to "reflex" roses here.

Pattern play. When it comes to prints this summer, stripes and animal prints are looking to make a huge splash.

SUNSCREEN. Tis the season - or, if you're me, it's always the season (yes, I wear sunscreen year-round!). If you're looking for a good face sunscreen, I highly recommend Supergoop's Serum. Full disclosure: the first time I tried the product it was a gift from the brand. I ended up loving it so much that I've repurchased it on my own and it's what I wear every. single. day.

My best buy of this spring has been my nude pointed-toe mules. They work with EVERYTHING and have become my go-to shoe (which is why you've probably seen me wear them a million times - like here and here). My exact pair are no longer available, but these are super similar.

It's almost time for the beach, and I'm really loving swimsuits with ruffle details like this one and this one.

Turn Up The Volume

A few weeks ago, I drove up to The Peabody Essex Museum with a few friends to check out this interactive "Playtime" exhibit we had heard about. One particular part of the exhibit - a room filled with pink balloons - was practically screaming my name.
For the trip, I wore this embroidered babydoll top. It's a different shape than most of the pieces i have in my closet, and I really appreciate that it provides some volume but still maintains a flattering silhouette. Plus, these tie sleeves - so cute!

Apartment Tour

Studio Apartment | @maevestier

My updated apartment tour is finally here!

You might remember my first Boston apartment feature on Apartment Therapy back in December (check it out here). Since then, I've made a few changes to my space - and Apartment Therapy sent their lovely writer and photographer, Anna Spaller, to do a full feature on my studio (including the bathroom and kitchen, which were not included in the first post).
I'm so happy with how the House Tour turned out. These photos are just a small preview - head on over to Apartment Therapy to see the full article (featuring my newest obsession: my emerald velvet couch).

I like to think that I have a knack for finding cute coffeeshops.
In reality, I think it just comes down to doing a little bit of research. While visiting Salem a few weeks ago, my friends and I were in desperate need of a caffeine fix, so I pulled out my phone and started scoping out coffeeshops in the area. Turns out this awesome little spot (complete with pretty wallpaper and bright yellow chairs) was a two-minute walk away.

Festive Separates

Amur Alma Top & Skirt | @maevestier

Top & Skirt (they're separates!) | Flats | Bag | Sunglasses c/o Solstice Sunglasses

The last two weeks were peak flower season in Back Bay and I made sure to take full advantage. All the pretty magnolia trees bloomed for a brief and beautiful period - but sadly by now most of them have shed their flowers and turned green with little spring leaves.
This top and skirt, worn together, form the cute and festive spring/summer dress you see in these photos. On it's own, the top also makes a great peplum piece to pair with dark-wash skinny jeans.
