Gift Guide 2017

Blogger Gift Guide 2017

Have I mentioned that I love giving gifts? It's that time of year again, so here are some suggestions I've curated - broken down by "for her" and "for him", but there are definitely ideas in each that are great for anyone. Click the [+] icons to shop. Happy gifting!

--- FOR HER ---

Festive, attention-grabbing earrings | Cozy & cheeky PJs | Syrups to make her champagne even more exciting | Fuzzy slippers (always a great gift!) | A delicate zodiac constellation necklace & earring set | Winking beanie | For the constant traveller: the comfiest sweatshirt to wear on the plane/bus/train | Socks that get straight to the point | "Press for Champagne" keyring (great little gift/stocking stuffer!)

--- FOR HIM ---

A warm & versatile zip-up | For the traveller: a set of adapters (SO helpful!) | Flasks are always a classic | For the music lover: high-tech speakers | For the athlete: a new gym bag | A dart board for the man-cave | Tools for the amateur bartender | Comfy, wear-with anything shoes he can throw in the washing machine | Awesome headphones for his workout & morning commute

Studio Apartment Design

Welcome to my apartment tour!

This has been a long time coming, but I'm excited to finally share my space with you. Apartment-hunting can be a difficult process, and when I found the space I'm in now, I was feeling both thrilled and overwhelmed. My requirements were that it be bright, light-filled, and dog-friendly (hi Weaver!), so when I discovered a space that offered all of that in addition to crown molding, high ceilings, and a chandelier, I could barely contain my excitement. I felt as if I had found a studio apartment in Paris - not Boston. Studios can be challenging, though, and I didn't want guests to feel as if they were standing in my bedroom when they walked in. I kept that in mind when creating the layout and kept my decor cozy, romantic, and a bit industrial.

Oversized Large Floor Mirror

My favorite thing in the entire apartment? You would probably guess my oversized mirror, which was something I had wanted for over a year. I do absolutely adore the mirror, but my real favorite is this blush-colored chair. It belonged to my grandmother and originally had a dark cherry-wood frame that I later painted white. I love the subtle pop of pink it provides, and it feels special to have an old family piece in my apartment.

The apartment isn't quite finished yet - as you can see, I'm still looking for closet storage solutions (so please ignore the moving box that holds my shoes!).
Also, although not pictured, the apartment includes two other rooms: the bathroom is through the door to the left of my closet, and the kitchen is through an archway the far left corner.

Halloween 2017 Ideas

It's almost time...

And I'm so excited. To be perfectly honest, I've had Halloween ideas popping into my head for the past few months, and since last year's post was such a success, I thought I'd do another this year on Halloween costume ideas I'm loving. I already have my costume figured out for this year, but I'd wear any of these other ideas in a heartbeat:

Butterfly Halloween Costume

Idea #1: The Butterfly

I found these awesome butterfly wings randomly on Forever21 and the idea took off from there. I'd go for an all black outfit + these wings + wavy hair + a few glued on butterflies with some Snapchat-inspired butterfly makeup.

Cyborg Halloween Costume

Idea #2: The Cyborg

Any excuse to wear a silver jumpsuit, right? Top it all off with some fierce robot-esque makeup and a sleek ponytail. I really like the metallic neck detail in this inspiration photo.

Idea #3: The Dragon

Forget the Mother of Dragons - why not just be the dragon? You could get super creative with this one, but my first thoughts were a snake print cropped top, dutch braid, and wings.

White Walker Halloween Costume

Idea #4: White Walkers

This is a great one to do with a group of friends. Frosty makeup, white hair spray paint, and an all-white ensemble (or more of a silver "armor" look would work as well). If you're up for it, you can even get icy blue contacts from your eye doctor (just make sure you get them from a doctor!).

Let me know if you end up using any of these and be sure to follow along on my Instagram to see what I end up wearing this year!

TIMELESS with Daniel Wellington

DW Rose Gold Watch

I'm super picky about watches.

In fact, I'm so picky that until recently, I only owned one watch. When it comes to jewelry, I gravitate towards delicate and classic pieces, and that translates over to watches as well. I've never been a huge fan of watches unless they were small and minimalistic - nothing bulky or bold. So, when Daniel Wellington reached out to tell me about their new Classic Petite collection, I was excited to find a timepiece that was my style and very much - excuse the pun - timeless.

The company and I are both of Swedish descent, so their minimalist design really resonates with my personal style. If I can find a watch that works this well with my favorite flowy summer dresses, it's a YES. Also, I can't say that I've been able to ignore their gorgeous ads featuring Kendall Jenner (um hi, casual). Thanks to Daniel Wellington, my new favorite timepiece is the Classic Petite Bondi watch: a thin white leather band and a white dial encased in rose gold.

I feel really lucky to have a platform where I can promote the things that I genuinely love,

And I really appreciate those of you who follow along with Chic Now. As a thank you, if you're interested in picking up a Daniel Wellington watch for yourself, you can get 15% off their entire site with the promo code MAEVESTIER.

The Instagram Guide to D.C. - Georgetown

Instagram Guide to DC - Georgetown

Want to know all the best little finds in Georgetown?

You're in luck. The Instagram Guide to DC is back, and together with It's Julien and Erin Krespan (check out her new blog, Everyday With Erin!) I'm showing you our favorite and most Instagrammable spots in DC's Georgetown neighborhood.

Violet Boutique, DC

Nestled on Georgetown's popular M Street is one of my all-time favorite finds: Violet Boutique. Their gorgeous store (complete with a very Insta-worthy neon sign) is carefully edited with pieces that could all easily find a home in my closet. I could have spent all day going through their racks of clothes and I definitely didn't leave the store empty-handed.

Lynn Louisa, Georgetown

After a quick lunch break at &pizza (love!), we headed up the street to Lynn Louisa, where we shopped and chatted with store owner Gabby. Julien also scored some seriously gorgeous tops while we were there. Definitely check out Julien's blog to hear more about the beloved Lynn Louisa!
