Chic This Week 040

What's chic this week (Volume 040)

This past weekend, I stumbled upon a street fair in Brooklyn with a few friends of mine. While checking out a jewelry booth, I found the prettiest little delicate baguette ring. I couldn't find the exact one I bought online, but I found this similar version at one of my favorite stores, Bing Bang NYC.

Micro-patterns and ditzy prints are a cute way to add some texture to summer outfits.

Currently lusting after: "bracelet" bags, specifically Chloe's Nile bag.

I found's feed through Instagram's explore page and I can't get enough of her pretty and yummy-looking food creations.

Enjoy your long weekend! If you feel like doing some shopping, check out sales happening at ASOS (20% off with code LIT20), NET-A-PORTER, Sweaty Betty (20% off with code MDAY20), and Parker (25% off with code SUMMERISFUN).

Beautycon NYC 2017

Blogger BeautyCon NYC

Check that one off the bucket list.

Ever since I started religiously following makeup gurus on YouTube, I've learned alllll about Beautycon: a one-day event for all things beauty. It's like Christmas for the beauty industry. So, you can imagine my excitement when Deco Miami asked if I would come for the day as their brand ambassador. I'm pretty sure I just kept shouting YES at my phone.

I spent the day hanging out at Deco's booth in the influencer's suite, scoping out the other sections of Beautycon, and meeting some seriously rad people in the beauty industry. Check out some of my photos from the day below & read more about some of my favorite finds.

New in beauty

I saw a lot of emphasis on upping your technique and tools at Beautycon this year. Whether it's an entire Korean Skincare regimen in one convenient mask pack, a shakeable mascara that never dries out, or upgraded tools like a silicon foundation blender or a glass nail file, it seems like the beauty focus of 2017 is really on quality. Sign me up.

Popular Products

Products this year centered around one of two things: either enhancing natural beauty or adding a statement to your look. I saw a lot of natural-looking brow products, but I also saw a ton of bold lip colors (especially taupes and deep purples). The key here, in my opinion, is balance. I'm all about the natural look, but I'm also not afraid of adding a deep plum lip color for a night out.

Trends come and go, but there are some aspects of beauty that will never go out of style. Self-care, whether it's in the form of taking a bubble bath or hydrating your skin, will always be something that is important in the beauty industry. Since I was at Beautycon with Deco Miami, it seems fitting to add nail polish to that category. Color trends may change, but painting your nails and keeping them looking nice is just another aspect of self-care that I don't feel will ever get old.

A huuuuge thank you to Deco Miami for bringing me along for this experience.

They're such a rad company. I literally have their nail polish bottles littered around my apartment because they're too pretty to put away in a cabinet.

Also, would you guys want to see a little haul of what I picked up while I was at Beautycon? I'm thinking of doing one on Instagram Stories sometime in the next few days. Head on over to my Instagram to leave me a comment to let me know if I should!

Microneedling: My Skincare Secret

Microneedling: Does It Work?

If you haven't heard of microneedling, you're probably very confused. And maybe a little concerned.

It all started when I read this article in Byrdie about how one woman had drastically changed the her skin by rolling needles over her face. Apparently, her own mother asked if she'd had work done.

Let's back up. What even is microneedling? What is it supposed to do? And does it actually work?

I'll let the doctor explain. Meet my sister Meghan, a Boston-based MD who is board certified in Internal Medicine. On her YouTube channel Wellness with Dr. Meghan, she takes an evidence-based approach to wellness so viewers can make more informed decisions about their health. You can check out her other videos here!

Microneedling: How & Why Does It Work?

My Regimen

I've been microneedling for the past few months (thanks to an at-home derma roller) and I have to say, I have definitely seen an improvement in my skin. I feel glow-y and my skin has never looked better. The derma roller that I use (pictured) has .5mm needles (similar here) which I sterilize with rubbing alcohol before each use. While it's an odd feeling to roll them over your face, it doesn't really hurt that much. If you're wondering how to roll, each derma roller should come with instructions - or you could even go to a dermatologist and have it done professionally if you would prefer. I try to roll once a week before I go to bed, and I follow up with a serum (I really love this Kate Somerville Vitamin C Serum).

Chic This Week 039

What's chic this week? (Issue 039)

Dip-dyed denim jackets add an unexpected cool factor to your outfit and are great for tossing on when the temperature drops on spring nights. Check out some options I found here & here.

Prosecco popsicles. Hello, summer.

For inexpensive (but super cute) home decor finds, H&M has an awesome home collection.

I'm really loving high-neck bralettes as a feminine way to add peekaboo layers to warm-weather looks.

Very excited to announce that I've been invited to attend BeautyCon in NYC next weekend! Follow along with my BeautyCon experience on Instagram and look out for a full recap here on the blog.

The Instagram Guide to D.C. - Georgetown

Instagram Guide to DC - Georgetown

Want to know all the best little finds in Georgetown?

You're in luck. The Instagram Guide to DC is back, and together with It's Julien and Erin Krespan (check out her new blog, Everyday With Erin!) I'm showing you our favorite and most Instagrammable spots in DC's Georgetown neighborhood.

Violet Boutique, DC

Nestled on Georgetown's popular M Street is one of my all-time favorite finds: Violet Boutique. Their gorgeous store (complete with a very Insta-worthy neon sign) is carefully edited with pieces that could all easily find a home in my closet. I could have spent all day going through their racks of clothes and I definitely didn't leave the store empty-handed.

Lynn Louisa, Georgetown

After a quick lunch break at &pizza (love!), we headed up the street to Lynn Louisa, where we shopped and chatted with store owner Gabby. Julien also scored some seriously gorgeous tops while we were there. Definitely check out Julien's blog to hear more about the beloved Lynn Louisa!
